My Little Man

Will,

I've taken to calling you my little man, because that's exactly what you are.  The two comments we hear most often when people meet little newborn you are
1)  Look at all that hair!
2)  He looks like a little man!
People also tell us you're just a peanut, but I know the truth.  You're growing, growing, growing oh so fast--body and hair.  You're five weeks old today and you got your first little haircut yesterday, just a trim around the ears.  You've started smiling, but aren't quite sure of those big sisters sticking there hair in your face all day.  Don't worry.  You'll soon latch on to it and give it a good pull.

You do most of your napping in your room, as it's the only way to make sure you get a little peace.  Your oldest sister, Sophia, is a natural little mama and is constantly giving you little pats, touching your hair and face, and saying, "Awww, he's so cute!  I just love you William Thomas."  She still loves to "play babies", but the real thing is always more enticing.  Yesterday she asked if she could "play babies" with you.
"Mom, can I burp him and carry him and change his diaper?" Sophia asked.  To which I quickly responded, "You can help with all those things, Dear."

Claire, on the other hand, does not always shower you with loving attention. Oh, she likes to bring you all sorts of things and sometimes her touches can be very gentle.  But most times her attention to you results in me wishing I had a little suit of armor for you to wear, complete with the visor to protect those big blues.  Then we would call you our little knight in shining armor.

I have no doubt Princesa Sophia and Princess Claire will always find a role for you. And, in time, they will become your protective armor.  But for now, Sweet William, just enjoy being the baby.

All my love,
Mama
