Our dear, sweet, feisty Claire is a two-year-old already! We've been having so much fun watching her assert her newfound independence, that we've fallen behind recording it. Here's a little note to you, Claire, about all you've been up to.
We started out celebrating you and your sister's birthdays a little early while on vacation at Bay Lake with the Sonnek family. The theme was princesses and spaghetti was on the menu. You're getting better every day when it comes to using your silverware, but when one of your favorites is on the menu, you still prefer to shovel it in with your fingers. Besides spaghetti, you LOVE mac and cheese (we actually have to limit this favorite), eggs, fruit, cheese, tomatoes, chocolate (pronounced kocklit), and french fries. Your preferred beverage is apple juice, which you get to have a bit of at breakfast each morning. When lunch time comes around and we ask, "Would you like water or milk?" "Juice?" you ask. "Water or milk," we say. "Juice!!!" you demand. Milk it is.

Vacation was a great chance for you to spend plenty of time doing one of your favorite activities, playing with sand and water.
You love playing with water so much that you often forget you're not at your water table when we sit down to dinner. You'll take a couple sips from your water glass and then begin pouring it all over the table. We're trying to channel this love of playing with water and dishes into the productive task of washing dishes. You are definitely the most eager dishwasher in the house.
You're a pretty eager helper on all accounts these days. When asked, can you get out a bowl for your snack, you respond, "Yeah...sure." Your favorite birthday present by far, has been a bubble blowing lawn mower. You spend a good portion of every day outside mowing lawn. Papi says he's the luckiest man in the world because Mami likes to mow for exercise and you just think it's fun!
We love the little buck-toothed grin you flash whenever you're enjoying yourself.
Some of the other things you enjoy right now are...
- running and jumping
- wearing your "glasses" (usually upside down)
- tackling your big sister and doing whatever she does
- reading
- music and dancing (You can often be found singing "The Farmer in the Dell," "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," or "You, You, You" (one of Sophia's VBS songs).
- stickers
- going to the park
- babies, kitties, and baby kitties (Nearly every morning starts with you strolling one of your babies around the living room and kitchen in her baby stroller.)
Here are some photos of you enjoying some of your favorite activities.

You're actually rather obsessed with babies. We have a small ariel bath toy and a large one. The little one is baby ariel as far as you're concerned and the big one is mama ariel. Today you found baby acorns outside. Yesterday, it was baby bugs. This may have something to do with your love of your little brother. You always want to know what Will is doing. You shower him with kisses, but you also try to tackle him. For now we have to tell you he's too little, but before we know it, he'll outweigh you, our little lightweight. At two, you're 36" tall, but only 27 lbs. Little Will is already nearly 19 lbs and he's not even six months old!
Your height is not the only thing that keeps growing. Your vocabulary is exploding! You repeat everything and are constantly asking, "What's Papi doing? What's see-sa (Sophia) doing?" When we respond, "He's working," or "She's at school," you respond, "Oh...I see Papi. I see see-sa." You're always asking Mami to hold you and these are the words you use, "I want Mami up-a you." You are very in-tune to emotions right now and are quick to tell us if something upsets you. You're not a fan of thunder and so you tell us, "Thunder scare me." You're also working hard on figuring out your colors right now. Blue is definitely your favorite.
We love how sharp and silly you are, Dear Claire. We're so excited to keep watching you grow and explore the world around you. Happy belated 2nd birthday, Sweetie!
