Shoes for Sophie!

December 5 126

I mentioned in the previous post that we've been doing a bit of shopping here in Colombia. Mami has definitely had the most fun shopping for shoes for Sophie at Migues. We also loved being able to shop in the store at FANA, which has many hand- made items from the Hogar de Margarita.

For those of you who don't know what the Hogar is, it's a home for expectant mothers in need. Many of the birth mothers of children adopted through FANA stay there for support and care during, and often after, their pregnancy. We were fortunate enough to visit this amazing place on Tuesday. It was an incredibly emotional experience (difficult, but so important). Ryan hopes to write an additional entry and attempt to put into words our experience there.

While at the FANA store, we bought a beautiful baptismal outfit for Sophia that was made at the Hogar. We just hope it will still fit her (along with the shoes) when it's time for her baptism. I know everyone wants her to stay just the way she is until we get her home, but she's a growing girl! She now weighs 13 lbs, 4 oz! Most of the weight is in her cheeks :) Sophia is in good company here at El Refugio, since el Tiburon, aka Tomas Ochoki, is also here. Check out this picture of two adorably healthy babes and Joaquin, the pirate.

Dear Sophia,

We just love you fancy new shoes! In fact, we love your sweet chubby cheeks, your beautiful brown hair, your twinkly eyes... Needless to say, we are thrilled to be your neighbors here at El Refugio!

Dulces suenos,

Dana, Chuck, Joaquin, and Tomas Ochocki
