both girls nap at the same time
The tiny one I carried inside
is nestled beside me in the crook of my left arm
My firstborn, the one who never knew my womb
is snuggled under my right
Each has a room of her own
a crib, a twin bed
but for rest time today
only my queen is full
My eldest daughter breathes heavy and deep
as she gets some much needed sleep
My youngest's breath is quicker and shallower
Half an hour passes
The little one squeaks, stirs, and
then tries to eat her hand
No matter, I couldn't sleep anyway
