Under the Sea

When Sophia heard that we'd be taking our first family expedition to Underwater World, you might say she was a little excited.  Sharks!  Nemo!  What more could our two year old sweetheart want?

Sophia loved seeing all of the fish.  She would crouch next to the glass and point out each of the fish, although she ran to Mami's arms each time the big sharks swooped overhead.  The Underwater World tunnels give you a very impressive view of the fish's underbelly literally just inches above your head.

Of course, the clear favorite of the trip was the Finding Nemo exhibit.  Not only did they have the living, breathing versions of the fish from Finding Nemo, but they also had a captivating 13 inch TV playing the real Finding Nemo on an endless loop.  We tried to convince Sophia that there were cooler things to see and had to practically drag her away from the TV.  She would have gladly stayed there for the rest of the day.

The little pond where you could touch starfish, hermit crabs and anemones was a bit too intimidating for our little trooper, but Sophia had no issues with the giant 7 foot Man-Shark!

Ironically, Sophia ended up visiting Underwater World twice in the same day.  Grandma and Grandpa Sonnek called and asked if Sophia wanted to join her cousins, Allie and Alyssa, for trip to Underwater World.  We had just enough time to get home and "persuade" Sophia that if she wanted to see Grandma and Grandpa, along with all the fish again, she needed to take a short nap.  Thankfully it worked.  I have a feeling that Sophia is now secretly planning some kind of mini Jacque Cousteau underwater expedition for her third birthday...

The treasure of the day for Sophia was definitely pointing out all the underwater creatures she knows and loves.  Our greatest treasure was being there to share it with her.
