"Tricky" Treat and Fall Fun

IMG_6403

I love fall and normally wouldn't think of escaping to warmer weather in October (January or February are much better for that). However, MEA seemed like the perfect time to take a little trip. Having had such a dreary, rainy fall, we really didn't mind spending a week in Tuxtepec, Mexico visiting friends. We had a great time in the squelching heat. I was able to catch up with my friend Lilia and meet much of her family. Ryan got a lot of reading done in the hammock, and Sophia loved playing with Luis, Julie, and Wendy. Check out more pictures from our trip here.

As much as we enjoyed being in Mexico, we were happy to come home to the lovely array of fall colors Minnesota has to offer. The reds, yellows, and oranges during this time of year never cease to take my breath away. As I write this post, we've just finished up with a weekend of fall fun, complete with pumpkin carving, "tricky" treating (as Sophia calls it) with cousins Allison and Alyssa, candy eating, and playing in the leaves. Sophia especially liked throwing leaves on Mocha and feeling the leaves swirl all around her as Papi used the leaf blower (Watch for videos soon to come!)

This has been the kind of weekend you wish could go on forever, but as Sophia so observantly noted at supper tonight, "My Papi, cansado." He is tired out and so am I, but blissfully so. Our little lady bug is sound asleep and soon I will be too.

Sophia, thanks for all the joy you bring to our days and for your "tricky" treat sweetness!
