Our First Family Day

One year ago today...
Our lives were completely and irreversibly changed for the better. We waited in the FANA Green Room as a young married couple with no idea how much our lives were about to change. Don't we look innocent?

One year ago today...
We held our daughter for the first time. Words simply can not express how we felt when Flor placed Sophia in our arms for the first time.

It's taken me a year to even begin to appreciate the experience. It was so completely overwhelming at the time, but now when I look back at that amazing day, I'm now able to see past the young couple adoring their new daughter. I see into the hearts and souls of all those that made that day possible; Sophia's birth mother and the entire staff at FANA.

From the moment Sophia gave us her first furrowed brow look, she had stolen our hearts and it's been an absolute whirlwind ever since.

Over the past year, our little girl has grown...

And she's beached...

Sophia is sometimes still a bit shy...

But, it doesn't take long for her to warm up and show off that beautiful smile!

We became a family, and look at us now! Cheese!!

Life is hectic now, and I know it will only get more busy, but I can not imagine my life without Sophia in it. I can honestly say that I am happier now than I ever thought I could be. This is a life I never could have predicted, which makes it even sweeter.

We are so incredibly blessed, and I am so absolutely grateful to God for the journey. There is no way we could have done any of this on our own.

The one year mark is such a special milestone. Thanks for sharing your thoughts...we know that words can't touch anything that you are feeling today as you look at beautiful Sophia and once again consider the miracle of what has happened in your lives. Enjoy this day and keep enjoying your wonderful little girl! Can't wait to see her again!
