FANA Fundraiser

Hi Everyone! We've had some wonderful responses to our previous post and wanted to post a follow up with more information on how to support FANA.

By now, I'm sure you all know the amazing story of how we received our beautiful, healthy daughter, Sophia this past year. Sophia spent the first ten weeks of her life in the wonderful state-of-the-art facility called FANA, located in Bogota Colombia. FANA is a Spanish acronym that stands for the "Foundation to Assist Abandoned Children." It was started over thirty five years ago by one woman, Mercedes de Martinez, and to this day is funded almost solely by charitable donations. As an adoptive mother herself, Ms. Martinez' aim was to provide assistance to indigent children and families in Bogotá. Almost 15,000 children of all ages have been placed by FANA into loving adoptive homes on four continents. FANA also provides medical services, temporary care, and protective custody to countless other children. What started in one woman’s home is now housed in an exceptional facility capable of providing services and a temporary home for over 150 children on an ongoing basis.

FANA has touched our lives and there's nothing we can do to repay the greatest gift we've ever been given. Supporting this great organization helps pave the way for countless other families to experience the miracle of adoption and we would love your help! Please consider joining us or making a tax deductible donation to this year's Friend's of FANA Golf Classic. This event raises much needed funds to assist with FANA's significant, ongoing, operational needs. The golf classic starts Friday July 18th with an afternoon golf tournament and ends with dinner and a silent/live auction. This year's theme is Colombia es Pasion (Colombia is Passion) and we are certainly passionate about our little girl!

DONATE

Please consider a tax-deductible donation of any amount. Seriously, nothing is too small or too large. We're also looking for donations for our silent auction. Everything from hand-crafted items, to golf balls, to tickets for sporting or cultural events, to services of all kinds (are you a baby-sitter? a dentist? a gardener? a party planner? etc). The deadline for donating auction items is coming up soon (July 9th), so please contact us if you have any ideas or questions!

Would you consider asking your employer to donate to this effort? All sponsorships of $100 or more will receive appropriate mention on the course and in our program. It's a great way to advertise and support a good cause.

Donations are always welcome, but the deadline for sponsorship ads is July 1st.

GOLF

Tee off on Friday, July 18th at 12:15pm with a shotgun start, at Majestic Oaks Golf Club. Consider signing up with friends, family or business partners.

SOCIALIZE

Join us for the after-golf dinner and live auction, starting at 5pm, on July 18 at the Majestic Oaks Golf Club. It's a really nice event and all adults are invited to attend the memorable program! Mercedes, the founder of FANA, will be there and I personally guarantee you'll shed a tear or two. You'll get to hear a lot about FANA and the emcee for the live auction is really something else. There's even a slide show of the beautiful children including Sophia!
