It's been over two months since we sent our paperwork down to Colombia. Although we haven't received an official acceptance letter yet, we did receive some encouraging news today. Marcia, our primary contact person with FANA, emailed us today to say she's confident that no news is good news. She believes that we would have heard something by now had there been any issues with our application and pending acceptance. She assured us that a longer wait time for receiving an acceptance letter does not mean a longer wait time for the referral of a child (That's when we get the name and a picture of our baby).
Leaders of FANA, the orphanage through which we plan to adopt, have been busy over the past two months travelling and celebrating FANA's 35th anniversary. We've been in contact with other "waiting couples" who are at about the same place we are in the process, and they haven't heard anything yet either. Now that things are settling down at FANA, maybe we'll hear something.
In the meantime, we'll be getting to know our buddy couple!! A buddy couple is a couple who has recently been through the adoption process with FANA. Our buddy couple has a five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, both of whom are from Colombia.
