It seems you've been waiting to turn three since the day you turned two. I've been calling you my "nearly three-year-old" for months and now you really are!
This past year has been one of enormous growth and change for you. Physically speaking, you're now 37 inches tall.
You were thrilled to make it past that 36 inch mark and be able to do a few carnival rides all by yourself this year.
You are, without a doubt, the strongest three-year-old I've ever seen. Tumbling, jumping, swinging, and running are all things you love. We're excited to watch you try out gymnastics this fall!
Here you are armed with your Wonderpets cape and bat, ready to tackle the literally indestructible purse piñata.
As for growth in other areas, your imagination astounds us daily. You love dress-up, but not just the princess type like so many other little girls. No, one of your favorite dress-up outfits is your Carebear suit, which you like to sport in the heat of the summer.
You role play all day long, constantly pretending to be one of your older cousins. You are a problem solver and great inventor in the world of play.
You're learning to play more on your own, but would still prefer a playmate. You love "your baby," but are really excited for when she's a little older and can play with you. If there's more than one adult in the house, you're bound to find a way to capture the full attention of one of us.
You couldn't be more excited about starting preschool in a few days. This summer you've gotten particularly good at drawing, writing your name, and painting. We know you'll love all the playing and learning there is to be done in the company of other kids at school.
While, "Play all day" could be your mantra, you are a big help around the house. You constantly check on baby and are working on learning that this does not mean touching baby, especially if she's sleeping! You're great at running to get burp cloths and diapers for Mami. In the kitchen, you love to help with the cooking and have gotten very good at scrambling eggs. You're less thrilled about the idea of cleaning up, but aren't we all :) You're really happiest when you're either involved in whatever Mami and Papi are doing or playing with one of the many people in your life who absolutely adore you (A special thanks to grandmas and Tia these past few weeks as Sophia has been transitioning into the role of Big Sister).
All these tidbits combined make for one very healthy, autonomous 3-year old. You are growing more into your name every day. Sophia, simply stated, means wisdom. We often say you're a little too smart for your age. One, more detailed, explanation of your name suggests that your personality mixes passion, authority and impulsivity with reserve, reflection, and sensibility. Your need to love and be loved is great. Your emotions are strong and your distinction of right and wrong is solid. We couldn't agree more.
You and your name are beautiful. (For the record, in case this changes in the future, you currently prefer Sophia to Sophie and you really wish we would have named Claire Melissa instead). You keep your Mami and Papi's hands and hearts full! We love you, Princesa!
