Sophia's Easter Surprise

This last weekend we celebrated Easter with both of our families and it was "memorable" to say the least. Sophia will have memories of running, chasing and playing with her cousins as well as finding lots of Easter eggs. Papi will have significantly different memories that may require some therapy.

She looks so innocent, doesn't she?

We had just gotten back from Church and Sophia looked adorable (as always) in her pretty little dress and white tights. After having a little supper, Mami took off Sophia's tights so she could keep up with her cousin Braden. Sophia tolerates all the cute stuff, but she can't wait to run Run RUN!

Sophia thinks playing with her older cousins is the absolute best, so it wasn't long before she went off with her cousin Braden to play downstairs. They play extremely well together, and it has been so much fun to watch the two of them really begin to interact with each other.

I brought some desert downstairs which I intended to eat by myself. Sophia was playing with one of her dolls and pretending to put a diaper on it but it didn't take long for her to notice I had a tasty treat. Sophia sure has her priorities, and that doll got tossed aside as she popped up into my lap and "convinced" me to share with her. She's just so cute and it's nearly impossible to turn her away during the "Nummy Nummy" routine!

Two seconds later, she was done and hopped back down to play. Sophia ran off to the corner, and then she gave me "the look". I asked Sophia if we needed to change her diaper, and before I could move out of my seat, I heard a "frap" followed by a visible plop dropping onto the carpet.

Time seemed to stand still as I realized that the doll's "play" diaper, was actually Sophia's real diaper. She had managed to take off her diaper before I had come downstairs. She wasn't wearing tights, but I hadn't noticed anything odd because she had kept her dress pulled down the entire time. Braden and I were both in shock and didn't know what to do.

The next couple minutes were a blur. I remember yelling to Julie, "I need some help down here!", and whisking Sophia into my arms. I'm sure the petrified look on my face scared Sophia as I held her at arms length and ran up the stairs and past the rest of my family. I don't remember saying a word until after I plopped Sophia into the bathtub to clean her up.

Once Sophia was washed up and the shock and panic had begun to wear off, I tried to reassure her that it was okay. Maybe I was really reassuring myself; I'm not really sure. I'll definitely keep a much closer eye on her in the future and I'm fully prepared to use duct tape if necessary to ensure this doesn't happen again!

Oh, and her pretty little Easter dress cleaned up just fine too. We hope everyone's Easter is as "memorable" as ours!

Oh my word! What a lovely Easter! We never had a child who learned that take the diaper off trick. In reading this update, I'm sure that I'm happy as can be about that!

Oh no!!! We had the take-the-tights-off-she-takes-her-diaper-off-then-poops incident with Ana during her nap time RIGHT before Joshua's last birthday party. We went in the room to get her out of her crib only to discover poop smeared all over the walls/crib/herself and had 5 minutes to clean it all up. Nice.

Well, this was an Easter to remember for you!! Sophia is as adorable as ever. Thanks for the entertaining story.
