Intro to Bogota

Bogota really is beautiful. The mountains surrounding the urban city is a wonderful backdrop. I really didn't know what to expect before wegot down here, and if anyone is interested in getting a little "taste of Bogota", you might want to checkout some really great pictures of Bogota on flickr.

We've experienced first hand how crazy the rest of the world is for soccer. The Colombian soccer team scored a major upset against Argentina on Tuesday night and we definitely knew about it even though we didn't watch the game. Car horns were blaring and plenty of "soccer parties" were celebrating late into the night. I can definitely understand why every parent of a FANA boy has a Colombian soccer jersey!

Colombians aren't much different from Americans when it comes to decorating for Christmas. The mall across the street has a 20 ft. tall Santa on top of their building and we have fake icicles hanging from our windowsill. I wonder if the armed security guards found throughout Bogota dress up as toy soldiers to help celebrate the season? I saw statues of reindeer and snowmen being setup yesterday too. It definitely helps make this feel like home. We might even try to take Sophia to see the Colombian Santa sometime soon!

We are thinking of you on this Thanksgiving Day, knowing from first hand experience the overwhelming feeling of having a new child to love. We have the fondest memories of two Thanksgivings in Bogota and love to relive them each year. Carley is in her glory this week, with lots of baby photos to look at online, between Sophia and Ava. She fondly points you all out to us and oohs and aws an awful lot. Keep the updates coming---we check in several tiems a day for new news and photos. Love to you three! The Felts
